Governor tate reeves announced today -- he added 17 new counties to his current mask mandate.
This update now puts every county in our viewing area of north mississippi under a mask mandate.
Almost all of them were under a mask mandate following governor reeves' previous order.
This new order adds benton county, which was removed from a mask mandate in that previous order.
In the entire state, only four counties are not under a mask mandate.
Those are: issaquena, claiborne, sharkey, and tunica counties.
And these new mask mandates come just after mississippi broke another daily record: nearly 80 new deaths in a single day.
The state department of health confirmed 79 new deaths today, bringing the new state death total now to nearly 45 hundred.
