We just heard from a conflict resolution expert, giving us the tools for a more harmonious life at home.

But what if things are threatening as you walk out your front door?

Lia is i u.s. navy veteran and owner and founder of hard candy women's self dense, and happy new year.

Happy new year to you, leyla.

The last time you joined us, you came into our studio and showed where to give a punch where it mattered and you gave us excellent tools that we if wd find ourselves being locked in a trunk from a car, good tools for women.

And what's the first message that you want to get out there to any of the women watching this?

I've been pushing and hard charging that hope is a course of action.

We must follow the hope that we don't want to be a victim of a crime with a plan.

Okay, so what plans do we have in place to prevent these preventive measures that we want to implement in our homes and workplaces and college campuses.

It must be followed with a course of action.

And hard candy, i love the name of your organization, first of all, and you focus on women being able to protect themselves.

What does that incorporate with the hole of your it's physical training and a great way to stay in shape and be involved.

But however, it does not stop there.

And we push for training the mindset and more cognitive defense measures.

Teaching women how to position themselves in the public to reduce their chances of a crime.

And pushing for the hard target persona.

You can be 115 pounds, but if you are that girl that's aware and vigilant and just focused on where you're going and how to get there safely, you are now a hard target.

So these are all the things that we incorporate in the name.

And the name of course was inspired by the movie earlier in the 90s, but we took it for how we want women to be perceived in public.

We're not just some weak, feeble, easy targets, we're not doing that anymore.

And the we're not going to continue walking the earth in the hopes that it will go somewhere.

Our safety is on us, our own responsibility.

And we push for that accountability factor, you are the first responder in any situation.

And part of your business is selling items that you use in self dense, and you gave me a stun ring, and you have other tools that women should arm themselves with.

In case they find themselves in some of these situations.

But you're going to be arming women with new forms of seminars and classes, and you need to tell us briefly about this.

Yes, there's a trauma response that women are facing and trauma tremendously affects our ability to respond to trauma situations.

As you see in many movies, a woman will drop the taser or firearm or whatever weapon she's going enter to protect herself.

You have the freeze or flight response, where you just don't know what to do, and where you are, the panic mode.

So we'll actually be having an event this year, where we'll be partnering with mental health specialists to help women overcome that trauma to heal from a past event to heal from forward living, and that's resilience.

So i hope to connect with many mental health specialeists in the area.

Leyla: that's wonderful, and you are going to have several training sexes for people, and we'll share that as well.

But you also is a a podcast and youtube channel.

Can you tell us where people can go?

Our youtube channel, sometimes it's just girl talk, and we need to talk about the how, and not feeling like we're able to.

So it's a lot of overcoming and a lot of healing that takes place on our youtube channels, and even the roundtable talks.

It's going to be great this year.

Thank you so much for creating a safe space for women to meet and to talk, thank you so much.

And happy new year to you, mia.

Happy new year to you, it's my birthday, as a matter of fact.

Happy birthday.

Thank you so much, leyla.

Leyla: and happy new year, back
