JULIETTE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Monroe County first responders locate an unidentified body in the basement of a home after returning to the scene of a house fire in Juliette.

School.

A cause of death is unknown at this time.

The gbi is now handling the investigation.

The monroe sheriff's department responded to a call last night around 10:30, from a man who said someone was trying to harm him and the home was on fire.

Deputies arrived shortly after the call at 27 faith court in julliette where the home seemed to be abandoned.

Upon searching the home, deputies say black smoke was coming from the back.

They immediately kicked the side door open, and called the monroe county emergency services, forsyth fire department and macon-bibb fire department.

After the fire was contained, investigators found an unidentified body in the basement.

At this point we haven't positively identified the body but once we recover the body, we're going to send it to the c1 3 b13 gbi crime lab for postive identification and obviously an autopsy.

Sheriff freeman says they believe the body recovered was the only person at the home.

According to the sheriff, they previously had a call from the same home approximately six months ago for a man at the front of the home acting strange.
