Oregon.
Tomorrow is january 9th... which means it's time for "kezi 9 checks in".
It's a monthly reminder for women to do a self breast exam... to check for any lumps or changes.
And, this month, we're also taking a closer look at the partnership between the community cancer center and o-h-s-u... and how it continues to benefit patients.
Here's renee mccullough.
It's been about a year, since we first told you about the collaboration between the two.
And, now....they've come up with a way...to make sure their top specialists are weighing in on their patient's care.
They've put together a local tumor board.
It's a group of physicians who meet on a regular basis...to review patients diagnosis...and plan for the best care possible.
Pathologists, radiologists, surgeons and medical and radiation oncologists make up the board.
But they'll also invite other specialists to join in, like gynecologists and urologists, when needed.
The group of cancer specialists will look at all possible treatments for the individual....and come up with a plan specifically for their diagnosis -- to make sure everyone is getting the best care possible.
They plan to meet once a month...and add more meetings as needed.
