TOMORROW MARKS ONE YEAR SINCE 26-YEAR-OLD BREONNA TAYLOR WAS SHOT AND KILLED BY LOUISVILLE POLICE OFFICERS DURING A FLAWED POLICE RAID AT HER APARTMENT.

One year since 26- year-old breonna taylor was shot and killed by louisville police officers during a flawed police raid at her apartment.

For her family - amidst the heartbreak.... a sense of disbelief... as jason carroll reports..

The family says there's still no justice for breonna... 364 days later.

--reporter pkg-as follows-- "i'll never get to a point where i'm over what happened to her."

Tamika palmer says she will mark the one year anniversary of her daughter, breonna taylor's death by attending a rally saturday to remind people justice has not been served.

Tamika palmer: "it's been a year for people, but everyday is march 13 for me still."

"everyday?.."

"everyday."

March 13th 2020.

The day taylor was killed during a botched police raid at her apartment.

Tamika palmer: "it will always be that sense of anger because you know she should be here.

You know there are number of things that went differently she would still be here."

None of the officers, who raided taylor's apartment, have been charged with her death.

Instead a grand jury brought charges of wanton endangerment against one of them, brett hankison, for firing into a neighboring apartment.

The state's attorney general defended the officers actions saying they were justified because taylor's boyfriend, kenneth walker, fired at the officer's first that night.

Walker argued he fired in self defense thinking someone was trying to break in and claiming the officers never identified themselves, while the officers say they did.

Just this week, a kentucky judge dropped charges against walker, who for months stood accused of shooting one of the officers.

Walker attorney: "people say the charges against kenny have been dismissed is that ok?"

"just supposed to say thank you and walk away?!

No there has to be a consequence!

There has to be accountability."

Accountability is key not only to people like walker and tamika palmer.

But to thousands of demonstrators, such as pastor thomas finley who protested over the past year calling for police reforms in the wake taylor's death and the death's of other african americans at the hands of police.

Finley: "when we think about march 13th now its breonna taylor, not just remembering her name but its really become a rally call.

A rally call for justice in our city, justice in our state."

Last year, the city paid taylor's family 12-million dollars in a civil settlement and passed breonna's law, which bans no knock warrants and mandates the use of body cameras during searches.

The city's mayor says there has been a top to bottom review of the louisville metro police department.

Greg fischer: "there's a lot to do.

We have done a lot, but we're going to keep working at this."

But it's not enough for palmer.

With no officers charged in her daughter's death, she says justice is something that still eludes her.

With the help of her attorney, she penned an open letter to president biden in the washington post asking his administration to enact a national policy to hold police accountable.

Lonita baker: "i guess i'm hopeful because we're at a point of reckoning where if we don't fix it we're going to be in a lot of trouble."

Tamika palmer: "she's more hopeful than me."

"and why is that?"

"it's a trust thing and this point.

I don't trust them."

That was jason carroll reporting.
