Fresh air, world class scenery and golf.
Can't ask for much more, especially if you want to work on the other side of the rope.
Here with the pga championship, brian ogle, the director, and thank you for joining us.
Thank you for having me.
Leyla: you have a lot of jobs and how many positions are you looking to fill?
We have many positions, suppliers around the championship and opportunities in hospitality, logistics and many more that kind of give you a behind the scenes look at the major championship.
And we're excited to open those to local community members.
Leyla: what kind of candidates are you looking for?
The positions are available to anyone, and we're hoping to widen the net to make sure that we have a lasting impact in the community, from all backgrounds, diverse candidates, and giving them the chance to get employment opportunities and experience around a championship that hopefully lead to other opportunities around that.
But we do encourage everyone to apply if they see something that interests them.
And raise their hands and come join us.
Leyla: do they need to be a patron of the sport or have no knowledge of golf whatever and still find employment?
Fans and anyone can come out and join in the championship.
And they will be working and processes for any kind of job.
The hiring process, the trainees and the support.
So golf knowledge, no golf knowledge, you're welcome to come out and check out the opportunities.
Leyla: maybe talk about what that means for the area in general.
Any time the championship comes to town, it means great business opportunities for all people.
Golf is an $84 billion industry, and our championships drive a lot of tourism dollars and bring a lot of people to the community and shine a spotlight on our site.
And we're going to do that in the global broadcast.
It's a good opportunity for victims in the game and individuals who want to be part of it in another way.
The job match and the suppliers with a diverse background, minority owned business that's we launched in 2020.
And the we're making sure that it's a golf event for fans and sporting in general.
But it's an opportunity for them to take advantage of a global event.
We're ramping up for may and we need a lot of support to finish come may 23rd when we crown the champion.
Leyla: and everything starts may 17th to the 23rd?
Yes, but the job openings will begin some of them in april.
And leading up to pre event during and post.
And interested parties can go to pga impact.org and apply before april 2nd.
Leyla: yes, there's a deadline and this week, it's april 2nd.
So get the applications in there.
The best chance is to beat the april 2nd deadline, and the service providers looking for hospitality and concessions and logistics and more, they will contact qualified candidates individually and through the process accordingly.
Thank you so much.
Thank you for having me.
