Russian President Vladimir Putin's comments were released in an interview with Russian state television on March 14, NBC News reports.
He was asked if Russia was ready for nuclear war, to which he responded.
“From a military-technical point of view, we are, of course, ready.”.
He went on to say that if U.S. troops set foot in Russia or Ukraine, it would be viewed as an intervention, risking nuclear war.

“So I don’t think that here everything is rushing so head-on” to nuclear warfare, “but we are ready for this,” Putin said.

Putin went on to say that Russia was willing to take part in peace talks with Ukraine.
