Olive baptist church members in west point gave food out to families and individuals.

I spoke with a church member about why the need is so great during this pandemic.

Alma brown- church member "there is a lot of people right now that are standing in need."

Olive baptist church and she just feels the need to give back to the community, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

Church members have been giving away boxes of food for the past 3 months.

"we are trying to get more and more boxes for the people."

These food boxes are part of the national 'farmers to families' food program.

Today the church gave away 75 boxes of food and over 100 gallons of milk.

Volunteers gave away all the food in about 20 minutes.

"i see new faces, i don't know if they come from far or if they are community but we are just serving all of god's people."

Brown says many of the people who receive food are community members.

She says it is important right now to help out since many people have lost their job and income because of the coronavirus.

"there are people that don't have anything, so that's why we are doing this."
