Youre taking a live look over huntsville, where the city has a new city council member!

John meredith defeated 3-time incumbent - will culver - in this years municipal runoff election!

We want to bring in waay 31's sierra phillips, who is live at city hall this morning.

Sierra -- what does merediths win mean for the city?

When john meredith takes his seat just behind me here at city hall, he says his focus will be on road projects within district 5.

Specifically, zierdt and martin roads-- plus, older roads that need repaving.

He also said he'll focus on racial justice reform with the huntsville police department.

"but district 5 is where i live, and to me, i was a dissatisfied constituent, so im going to take some of those things like the transparency, accessibility, the accountability and bring that to my service.

So, i think those are the big things that voters have identified with and put me over the top " he wants those who support will culver to know he does not intend to undo any work he has done.

Adding he'll have an open- door policy and welcomes any feedback from the community.
