The Locker Room: High School Football Sectional Quarterfinals

Justin and Petar bring you action from 15 games around Northeast Indiana in week one of the IHSAA football state tournament.

Alongside my partner petar hood, my name is justin prince..we'd like to welcome you inside another edition of the locker room..pete, it certianly had it's twists and turns, but the high school football regular season is now behind us..it's officially win or go home time here in the hoosier state..yeah, a lot of folks, the two of us included, never thought we would make it to this point this year..but we're here, and man are we fired up about it..so without further ado, let the i-h-s-a-a state tournament games begin... we begin with a showdown in class 4-a... sectional 19 is as loaded as they come..

???east noble... last year's 4-a state runner-up opening its postseason at home against ne8 foe columbia city..

???knights got the better of the eagles in the regular season, and not a whole lot changed tonight... east noble led 28-0 at the half... keeping their foot on the gas in the third quarter... nick munson fighting for extra yardage..???later in the drive... it's cole shupbach to a wide open rowan zolamn... what a show this kid put on tonight... three touchdowns, two interceptions and a fumble recovery on defense... that score puts the knights up 35- 0..???and the defense was doing it's thing as well... jacob vangorder and ethan nickles combining on the tackle for loss..

???as east noble cruises past c-city... 35-7 your final..

3 ???so the knights move on to play the winner of this game... dekalb hosting angola... hornets beat the barons 55-18 back on august 21, but dekalb came to play tonight..???scoreless when we pick this one up early second quarter... hornets looking to get on the board... andre tagliaferri picks up a nice chunk of yardage on the sweep play..???later in the drive though... and this was a theme in this game tonight... the dekalb defense stands tall... black jersies swarming tucker hasselman... evan snider leading the way... angola forced to punt..???on the ensuing touch for dekalb... this time it's the hornet defense making a big play of their own...the diving interception by ethan miller gives the ball back to angola..

???but they just couldn't get anything going offensively tonight... dekalb pulls off the upset in a 7-0 shutout... ???other side of the bracket in sectional 19... leo visiting northridge...???pick it up third quarter... lions down a touchdown... and coach sauder reaches in to his bag of tricks.... the reverse to rylan crawford... he gets the edge and gets in for six... leo ties things at seven... ???take you to the fourth... same score... lions knocking on the door... and look at the push up front... tanner jackson gets in for the touchdown...???leo takes the lead..

And that's the final... lions win 14-7... northwood 20, wawasee 7 other side of the bracket... wayne hosting huntington north in sectional 20 action..vikings up eight six in the third and driving... fourth down... aden dennis... will not be denied the first... dragging dudes for the first inside the ten... a few plays later... fourth down once again... reid johnson looking for the endzone..

But he's picked by christian flannigan... generals defense holds pat... and that would be big... in the fourth... fourth down for the generals... christian trimble flushed from the pocket..

Hurls one downfield... and he finds flannigan... who gets in to the endzone...wayne goes up 12-8... and that's your final... generals advance with the 12-8 dub... delta 48, jay county 0 3 other side of the bracket in sectional 20... south side hosting new haven... dogs got the ball first... and the bullied their way down the field... jarrell jackson just refusing to go down on this run... carrying defenders for the first down...later in the drive... fourth down for new haven... looking for it all... jakar williams connects with mylan graham... that's a touchdown... and it's six nothing bulldogs...later in the first... south side looking to answer... matthew morris plowing his way inside the five..

He's ruled down at the one...next play roosevelt norfleet the third gets in on the sneak..

Ties things up at six...and how about the archers..

They get their second win of the year... 30- 20... they'll face marion next week... ???staying in class 3-a... sectional 26... garrett opening postseason play at home against the jimtown jimmies...???scoreless when we pick this one up first quarter... first possession of the game for jimtown... some miscommunication between quarterback and receiver leads to an interception for zack warfield..???that gives 3 garrett great field position..

But on the ensuing drive, the jimmies' defense holds... on third down, aaden lytle keeps it himself, but johntu reed is there to make the play for jimtown..???railroaders have to settle for a field goal... and from 39 yards out, number 39 splits the uprights... zack klopfenstein gives garrett the early lead... but they wouldn't score again after that..???jimtown goes on to win this one, 26-3... west noble 14, glenn 0 ???other side of the bracket... marian a heavy favorite in its sectional... as they open up tonight at home against lakeland.

???and the knights waste no time... getting on the board.

1st drive: maddix bogunia-bright hits greg atkinson on a little screen... and atkinson does the rest.

Splits a couple defenders and goes 31 yards to the endzone!

Tippecanoe valley 49, washington 22 oak hill 28, bellmont 0face concordia time for a break..don't go anywhere though, we've still got plenty more highlights to get to... including a big- time clash between one loss teams in class 2-a..highlights and reaction from locker room...well pete we've already seen classes 4a and 3a... all that's left are 1a and 2a... yeah and we'll start you with a good one... could've been our game of the week... 8-1 and necc small division champ eastside visiting 8-1 bluffton...take you down to park field...pick this up all square at seven in the 2nd quarter, but that eastside pass game paying off here.laban davis, forced from the pocket... he's looking towards the endzone..

Overthrows lane burns but wade miller right there behind him for the grab... that's a touchdown... blazers take a 13-7 lead.... and the rout was on from there... second half... it's 19-7... davis does it with the legs... gets in from a yard out... eastside goes up 19....later in the quarter... bluffton on offense now... but hayden nern picked off by briar munsey....and that would lead to this... ensuing drive for eastside... and it's miller time once again... davis finds miller for six more points...blazers roll 40-7 to advance to the sectional semis.... 3 "we came out a little slow, but really we came out in the second half and executed like we should have.

First half was a little rough, but we came out and got the w and that's what matters."?

"it's really important that we keep playing at the level that we know we play, especially since coach says we can do it, and we can obviously, but it's just up to us, each down, each play."?

Finds brody glenn in the endzone from 21 yards out... it's 28 nothing...and then... just before half... how about one more for good measure?

This time it's da'von doughty... he gets in from a couple yards out...luers takes a 35-0 lead to half... they cruise to the 56-7 win.... ???final stop in sectional 35 comes at fairfield... falcons storm the field... looking to keep their perfect season in tact...???and what a nice start...cory lantz keeps it himself...and look at his big boys up front push the pile!

They pick up a first down... after his momentum is first stopped!

Fairfield in front, 6-0.

???they go for two... it's a pitch to quinn kitson...and he's in!

Fairfield wins 38-12.

???they'll host luers next week... final stop in 2a... sectional 34... wabash paying manchester a visit... apaches won a week three matchup 44-29...squires struck first in this one... first quarter.... seth gaerte takes the bubble screen... makes a guy miss... and there he goes.... he'd go untouched to the endzone for six... manchester goes up six...later in the quarter... wabash looking to answer... joe leland escapes some pressure... finds bryant boggs... somehow he gets out of a couple of tackles...he's gonna race in for the score... that ties things at six a piece...apaches go on to win 16-12... they'll face bremen next week in the sectional semifinals..

On to class 1a... sectional 43...1a number one south adams hosting union city... and this one got ugly for the small union city squad quickly.

Second play of the game for the starfires, they go to the air... james arnold is able hits drew stutzman... and there... he... goes... 77 yards to the house.... stars take a quick seven nothing lead...they can play some defense too... first drive for u-c... the star defense swarms on the indian's quarterback... they'd get the ball back on downs...and they got right back to work on offense... arnold finds timmy davidson in the back corner of the endzone, for another south adams score...starfires cruise in this one 41-nothing... they'll face monroe central next friday night... moving on to sectional 44 triton hosting churubusco tonight.------this was a defensive showing if you're into that.

Eagles clamped down in the 1st quarter, ethan hille stuffs the trojans behind the line.-------but towards the end of the quater, triton gets a drive going.

Hunter mcintyregets a nice gain on the toss sweep before being taken down for the 1st down.--------then just a few plays later he'll get the ball again, turn outside and dives in for thescore.

Triton wins 24-14 triton moves on to face the winner of this matchup between adams central and fremont... jets won 43-12 in the first game of the season... and they were back at it tonight..

Blake heyerly rumbles in from a couple out... a-c up six... later in the first... fremont looking to respond... cameron colclasure fumbles the exchange with his running back... mason deroo picks it up and runs it back....jets take a 12-0 lead... they cruise to the 39-6 victory... they'll host triton next friday... ???final stop of the day... southwood taking on northfield..

Knights were shut down on tuesday due to covid-19... game was canceled, but all players tested negative, so as of yesterday, it's back on..???and southwood showing no signs of rust..

That put the the knights up 14.???then on defense the next posession... able to force a fumble.they get it back... and get to work on offense.???alex farr with the keeper for the first down.

No score there...???but the offense and defense overwhelming the norsemen.a lot of this on defense from the knights the stop here on third and long.???they win this one.
