Good evening, everyone.

This is the final day to return an absentee ballot in alabama.

And alabama secretary of state john h.

Merrill says he strongly recommends turning in that ballot in person.

Merrill says the ballot must be returned to the county absentee election manager's office.

If returned by mail, the absentee ballot must be postmarked by today and received by noon tomorrow.

That's why he says it makes the most sense to drop it off yourself.

The alabama secretary of state's office is reporting the state has tripled its absentee voting record with more than 300,000 ballots successfully returned.

Polls open in mississippi and in alabama at 7:00 a.m.

If you have never voted, or if it's been a while, here are a few things you should know.

Be sure to bring a photo id.

In both states, you can use a driver's license, a non driver id, a us passport, a government employee id card, a student photo id from a state university, college or community college, a us military id or a tribal id.

If you are not sure where to go to vote, you can look online.

The secretary of state's website allows you to locate your polling place.

You can also call your county circuit clerk's office.

Polls will close at 7:00 p.m.

But if you are already in line at 7:00, you will be allowed to stay in line and cast your vote.

This year's election is not just about the white house.

Republicans are also fighting to keep control of the u-s senate.

Democrats are trying to overcome the g-o- p's 53 to 47 majority to take full control of congress.

Nearly átwice as manyá republican senators are up for re-election this year, and more than one third of them are in competitive races.

One of those races is rematch here in mississippi between senator cindy hyde smith and mike espy.

Nancy cordes reports from new york city.

On the eve of election day - it's not just the presidential race that has republicans nervous.

Senators in formerly safe states are struggling.

In georgia, senator david perdue running neck and neck with a 33 year old democrat, jon ossoff... you shouldn't do everything that your handlers in washington tell you to because you'll lose your soul along the way, senator.

After that moment went viral last week, perdue canceled their final debate...opting for a campaign rally with the president instead& in north carolina, republican senator thom tillis, a supporter of the president, has trailed his democratic challenger cal cunningham for months in what is now the most expensive senate race in áu-s history.á cunningham admitted to an extramartial affair and it still didn't change the polls.

People really need to understand what's a stake.

A senator you can trust that made promises and kept em, or a candidate who's run on a foundation of trust and honor and he's been untruthful and dishonorable.

"martha, just come up fast.

Fast.

Fast.

Come on.

Quick.

You got one minute!"

In arizona, john mccain's former senate seat could also go blue.

Republican senator martha mcsally under fire from former astronaut mark kelly over the gop's response to coronavirus.

"senator, you understand this as a pilot: you guys did step one of the emergency procedure, and then you didn't do anything else.

And that is a colossal failure."

And then there's maine's susan collins, one of the senate's most senior republicans i don't regret any of those votes& she's being hammered for siding with the president in a state he lost by 3 points.

Time and again making excuses for trump's behavior democratic voters have poured money even into "reach" races like south carolina.

They're killing us financially!

Now lindsey graham's battle with democrat jamie harrison is considered a tossup - in a state graham won six years ago by 17 points.

I wish the senator would take the urgency he has for the supreme court nomination to put that into actually doing a bill to address the needs of the folks in south carolina democrats are playing defense in a couple spots.

They're very worried about senator doug jones in alabama.

But of the 13 races we consider battlegrounds, 11 are held by republicans.

Even republican leader mitch mcconnell says his chances of keeping control are 50-50 at best.

Here's what you should know about election night here on wcbi.

Corey bishop is a line supervisor with behold home.

He was hired when the company opened its smithville plant in 2014 and says the work environment is unique.

"i've worked at a lot of furniture factories and so far, this has been, home, this is home, all i can say" one hundred and fifty employees work at the smithville plant, turning out 5000 pieces of furniture each week.

In 2018, behold home opened its pontotoc plant, and with an economy on the rebound, demand for residential furniture never dropped.

In fact, business is so strong, behold home is opening a third plant, in amory.

"we have a very great team at behold home and we wanted to expand, not only to help our customers, but help our community, monroe county has been a very good workforce for us, corporately, so expanding here was a natural move."

Behold home has bought this 100 thousand square foot building on glenn drive.

Plans call for four production lines matching the smithville plant's output of 5 thousand pieces weekly at full capacity.

There is also ample warehouse space with the property.

Beard says the company is looking for skilled workers, and will also train those who are eager for unlimited opportunities.

"we want to be able to train and cultivate new talent, one of the things we tried to do since the pandemic was bring in people outside of the industry, train them and have them ready to manufacture furniture, this is a field you can take and work, it's a skill that won't leave you."

"make good money, right in amory, get treated very well, not like a lot of other furniture factories around here" standup close the contractor has some work to do inside the building.

Behold home plans to have production lines up and running as soon as possible, bringing even more jobs to monroe county.
