Cameron Corbett from Northwest Health Services joins us to talk about an upcoming "Drive for the Homeless" event on November 6th that will support the homeless local population as we get closer to the cold winter months

C1 driving change with the homeless population has been at forefront of many businesses.

Missouri state healthcare providers for a long time.

We're speaking with cameron corbett who working with the homeless population.

>> you have an event coming up, it's usually called walk for the homeless.

You're changing it up everyone is aware of the pandemic going on.

Just keeping everybody safe and also remind them of the walk for the homeless which is now a drive for the homeless.

And basically what we're doing instead of a lock this year downtown, we're doing a drive, parade style downtown.

That kind of goes by our partners that really support our homeless community in st.

Joseph.

So that's really what the focus is this year to keep everyone safe and just kind of support that community as best we can during this time.

>> i know your organization helps quite a bit, south and north savanna, it doesn't matter.

What can you tell us about the homeless population locally there's a few things funding helps us get.

Can you tell our viewers about that.

>> absolutely, whether it starts getting cold, i think we're lucky this week to have warm weather.

It will get cold again.

We provide shelter, places like the cross, they do a lot with sheltering our homeless community and all of that on eighth street.

Drop in centers, judah house.

The haven.

And the services and what they do in our community >> they also i think will raise money for the i d cards, bus certificates and transportation needs as well.

That will be wonderful for that community.

The start of the drive will be downtown.

Ymca park at 3:15 south 6 the street and leave the parking lot and parade style and the event will be holding a facebook live event too.

If you can't get there, we will be sure to tune into facebook.

>> facebook.com/st.

Joe walk for the homeless.

>> find us on there and hope to see you there.

Come enjoy the night.

>> it will be neat to have a flag on each car.

Driving along.

You will know it's that parade when you look out your window.

>> yeah.

We're just kind of right now biding our time until the event.
