During the pandemic, plasma donations are needed now... more than ever.
Local blood center in need of plasma, why one donation could help save a life
At least... the next 14 days.
Local blood centers are asking for "your" help..
In donating plasma..
And as news 10's jordan kudisch explains..
As "covid-19" cases rise... donations could help provide a different outcome for the patient.
Alia..
Blood centers are "always"... in need of donations..
But when it comes to "plasma"..
It plays a "key" r in providing antibodies.
And "your" donation... could be the reason someone has a "fighting" chance.
I spoke with a "medical" director over at the blood center.
He says..
The donation itself he says..
The center.
He says..
The donation itself takes "30 to 40" minutes it's done on a machiene..
That's used to collect plate-lets..
And plasma.
It's a one arm procedure..
And within "40" minutes you could be donating between..
"600 hundred to 800 milliliters."
And-- you can donate every week..
Or every other week..
Hitting a maximum of "12" times the director says... if "you've" been exposed to covid.
Your donation could make a "major" impact.
<"you have antibodies that could help some patients out.
You can provide therapy for patients right here in our own state, right here in our own towns and that's you know, we have to get therapies from all over pharmasutical companies, all over, but here's something we can do locally.
