Butte county public health says the county is trending towards the red tier- a more restrictive tier.... butte is still in the orange but the county's case rate data now qualifies for the red tier due to a spike in cases.

Businesses like restaurants, gyms, and movie theatres would have to limit capacity to 25%.

Bars would also have to shut back down.

Butte county public health says they are also seeing the largest increase in cases among children 0-17 and another increase from 18-24 just 9 days after the halloween holiday.

Almaguer says they are attributing the increase in cases to gatherings including, but not limited to weddings, funerals and halloween celebrations.

If the trend continues butte could be back in the red tier in exactly one week.
