Friday's Locker Room Game of the Week will serve as a state tournament tune-up for Eastside and Angola.
3 hey good evening everyone..
Well going in to the final week of the regular season, championships have already been spoken for in several of our area conferences...that includes in the ne-cc, where tomorrow's game between eastside and angola will serve as a state tournament tune-up..
It will also serve as the locker room's game of the week, as 2-a's fourth-ranked blazers visit the hornets... petar hood has more on the matchup..
?
?)prince dominant is the only word that can describe how eastside has looked against conference competition this year.
Through five games, the necc small division champs have outscored league opponents by a score of 211-7.
But their toughest test yet, at least as it relates to the necc, will come this friday against angola.)outside of their lone loss to big division champion farifield, the hornets have looked pretty dominant themselves..angola is 5-1 on the season, and all five of those wins have come by three touchdowns or more..
Again, these two teams are in opposite divisions within the ne-cc, both of which have already been decided..so there won't be a title on the line tomorrow night..
But both squads say there's still plenty to play for... )phoenix smyth: "the motivation is just playing angola.
They're one of the bigger schools on our schedule, and competitive wise, they're one of the schools we really think we can compete with, and go out and play with, and have fun.
That's really the motivation for us is beating that bigger school, and beating that school that no one thinks we can beat."matt firestine: "we love playing big schools, big competition.
We love it.
We love whenever everybody's there.
They've got bigger stadiums. we love going there, and showing up and doing what we do best."todd mason: "it doesn't matter who we're playing.
We're going to play eastside football from the opening whistle to the last.
We went up to concord and played a 5a opponent.
We punched them in the mouth, and we're going to punch angola in the mouth.
That's what we do."
Andy thomas: "you can't afford to play bad football in a win or a loss going down the stretch heading into the playoffs.
We're not a huge get-too-far-down-the-road operation.
We're a day-to-day, week-to-week team, and this week is no different.
We don't have any choice.
We have to play well to win this game.
These guys are great."tim macomber: they're a faster team.
They're definitely fast.
They're physical.
We just have to do our jobs and do what we do."finley hasselman: "it's pretty exciting, because we're hoping to do well in sectionals this year.
This last game is kind of a defining moment for us, to see if we can come together and do something.")kickoff here in a-town is set for 7 pm tomorrow night.
